Student Life Shares Updates with Stay Connected Hour

By Caprice Benifield-Sanchez, Staff Writer

MCC’s Library and Academic Advising Center shared the new
updates and events on Student Life’s Stay Connected Hour for October to
support students online.
According to the Student Life Canvas page, Stay Connected Hour is a
monthly virtual interactive event to inform students of upcoming events and live
updates from resource offices at MCC.
Assistant Director of the Academic Advising Center, April Johnson, said,
“We know, especially virtually, that you guys still need our support, so we want to
make sure that you guys know how to stay connected, and that is the theme of
the day.”
She said starting on Oct. 16, students can view the schedule for the spring
semester.
Johnson said that beginning on Oct.19, students will be able to register for
classes.
“For current students, that is your day. For some majors, it is so important
that you know when that day is because some classes go really fast,” said
Johnson.

Library and Learning Center Assistant Melissa Lala said, “We have been
working a lot behind the scenes to have resources ready and available for you.”
“If you are doing research, it doesn’t have to be from an English class.
Usually your professor requires you to have a peer review journal … it needs to
be a legit source, and our librarians can help you connect to whatever topic it is
you are working on, and you guys can work together to find the resources that
you need,” said Lala.
Lala said that students can join a live session with a librarian on the
Library Services Canvas from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
