Middlesex College Women’s Soccer picked up their third straight win in convincing fashion on Thursday, Sept. 22 over Lehigh Carbon.

The team handled business on the road winning by a score of 4-1, led behind two goals  by sophomore Kimberlie Suffrant. Freshman Madison Schwalbach and Sophomore Destiny Pagan also added goals to the victory.

The Colts started out fast behind Suffrant’s goal in the 13th minute. Suffrant’s goal was her team leading fifth on the season.

From then on, the Colts never looked back. Schwalbach and Suffrant scored nearly back-to-back goals near the end of the first half.

The Colts accrued lightning momentum from their first half triumph, as Pagan scored a goal off a pass from Freshman Carly Csizmar three minutes into the second half.

For the remainder of the game, the Colts cruised to victory. The team was anchored behind the stellar play of sophomore goalie Rania Alaboura who picked up three saves.

Coach Giordano praised the commratory and cohesiveness the team is playing with. She foresees the Colts carrying momentum they’ve built over the last three games into the next one.

“We are looking to extend our winning streak and continue our momentum by continuing to play together as a team and connecting with each other on the field. Three out of our four goals against Lehigh Carbon had an assist, which means the women are setting up their teammates for a scoring opportunity. The more opportunities they can create for each other, the more successful we'll be on the field,” said Coach Giordano.

Middlesex looks to continue building off their momentum when they host their first home match of the season Tuesday, Sept. 27 against SUNY Ulster at Thomas Edison Park. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
