Former CEO Explains Home-Based Businesses

The South Brunswick Library staff is holding a webinar about starting a home-based business on March 23 at 6:30 p.m. to teach participants how a home-based business is run.

According to the South Brunswick Public Library’s website the webinar is being led by Janet R. Pickover, former CEO of JR Associates, a meeting management, consulting and training company.

Pickover said, “The topics discussed will include insurance, self and family requirements and licensing, among other things.”

“Running a home business is a far cry from a summer lemonade stand. Doing it right is quite a bit more demanding than people realize, but that doesn't mean it’s not rewarding. When you’re your own boss and you’re successful, that's when you run the game,” said Pickover.

Alex Askew, a MC student, said, “I would be interested in going. As a business major, I want to know all of my options.”

Destiney Alvarez, a MC alumna, said, “I think this would be a really good option for any parents that stay at home to take care of their kids. Obviously, children are already [a lot] of work, but I’m sure there's a lot of moms and dads out there that can make it work.
