MCC Men’s Basketball Season Ends Strongly

The College’s men’s basketball team finalized their season with a record of 27-7.

Beginning Nov. 3, 2018, the Colts sky-rocketed their season on their home court against Carolina Christian College with a final score of 96-80. Freshman guard Letrell West made a statement from the beginning, as he averaged 33 points.

The Colts managed a five-game winning streak until they received their first loss against Brookdale Community College, with a final score of 85-91. Nonetheless, the men’s basketball team came back strong the following match against Union County College, with a final score of 84-76.

Freshman Paul Rago said, “Passion and tenacity keeps us strong because we knew that if we keep the hard work, we wouldn’t let each other down.”

Throughout the season, the Colts sustained a ten- game winning streak with an impressive home record of 13-2.  

According to NJCAA, West topped the region with 791 points, averaging 24 points a game and topping second in the national scorer board.

As the season came to a close, the Colts triumphed in their region by winning the Region XIX title and travelled to Minnesota to represent The College in the NJCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
