Makeup Tips and Reviews: The Holy Grails of Highlighters

By Samantha Casano

Over the past few years, highlighter has taken the beauty world by storm. Everyone wants to achieve that effervescent glow. Whether you want a subtler glow or a glow that you can see all the way from outer space, I have the crème-de- la-crème of highlighters to recommend for you.

My first recommendation is for those who are just being introduced to highlighter and may not want to start out with such an intense highlight. Essence Cosmetic’s Pure Nude “Be My Highlight” is one of my go-to highlighters. It provides a subtle, more natural sheen that is perfect for those “no-makeup makeup days,” and a nice, healthy glow. The best part about the Essence highlighter is that it’s only $4.99 at Target and Ulta!

Ofra Cosmetics Highlighter in the shade “Blissful” is a golden-bronze with rosy undertones. However, if you think that “Blissful” is not for you, Ofra carries seven other beautiful shades, so you are sure to find your perfect highlight! Ofra products are super pigmented and intense. They definitely give you that blinding effect that all your favorite beauty vloggers crave. You can find “Blissful” on the Ulta and Ofra Cosmetics websites for $29.

My final recommendation is my personal favorite, the holy grail of highlighters. Becca Cosmetics’ “Champagne Pop” has become a cult-classic in the beauty community. It was created in
collaboration with YouTube beauty sensation, Jaclyn Hill, who designed this peachy, golden highlighter with all skin tones in mind. If “Champagne Pop” is not the color for you, Becca has 14 other amazing shades you may want to try. The Becca highlighters do not contain glitter, but rather give off a more metallic sheen. They retail for $38 at Sephora and Ulta.
After trying out these beautiful highlighters, you will surely get compliments all day long about your glowy, dewy makeup look. So, get to glowing makeup lovers.

By Quo Vadis October 29, 2020

By Gabrielle Ignotis, Editor-In-Chief, There is nothing marking the various entrances into the town. In most areas, there is no sign signifying the movement across town lines. As a result, many people, even some town residents, don’t know where other towns end and where Spotswood begins. With a town area of only 2 miles, it’s common to refer to the small municipality as being less than a mile long. Compared to sprawling suburbs like East Brunswick or...

My Day With a Dolphin

By Quo Vadis October 29, 2020

By Gabrielle Ignotis, Editor-In-Chief I awaken to the sound of my cell phone vibrating against the heavy wooden nightstand. I open my eyes and take a moment to acclimate myself to the unfamiliar territory. I scan the sky-blue walls and graying wooden floorboards, briefly inspecting the black and white print of palm trees that is hung on the wall across from me. I can’t see the digital clock from my bed, but I know it must be...
