Summer Plans Are Coming Together

I have been thinking about and making plans for summer vacation 2021 and 2022 for a while.

I haven’t been to the Philippines in a year because of COVID-19 closing down borders worldwide.

My family and I wanted my mom’s side of the family to meet my dad’s side. My first cousins on my dad’s side of the family haven’t been to the Philippines yet.

We made plans to go to malls almost every day while we were supposed to be there and possibly stop by the beach houses my grandmother used to have in the Philippines. I’m hoping after the COVID-19 pandemic is over, we could actually do that.

A plan we had as a layover to the Philippines was going to Hawaii, mostly because some of us haven’t been in a while; my immediate family and I haven’t been to Hawaii in 15 to 16 years.

What got me thinking about going to Hawaii again was “Pokémon Sun and Moon” and “Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon,” since that Pokémon region was based on Hawaii.

Going to Hawaii will be a lot of fun this time around, as I’m older, and I want to make comparisons between the Pokémon games based on Hawaii and the state itself.

For the Philippines, I know I want to see the parts of the country I haven’t seen yet, with my dad’s side of the family and my mom’s side.

I also know that one of the plans I made with my dad’s side of the family was possibly going to Florida, mostly to see some of my uncles and aunts down there; maybe stopping by Disney World and Universal Studios, too.

Disney World has the entire Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section I haven’t seen yet. Also, in a couple of years time, Universal Studios Orlando will get Super Nintendo World.

Japan, South Korea, and Australia are some of the destinations I want to visit with my mom, brother, and dad in the future. I want to go to Japan because I want to see all the real-world equivalents to cities and towns shown in the anime I watched. I want to visit South Korea mostly because my mom is obsessed with Korean dramas. Visiting Australia in the future with my mom, my dad, and brother would be a lot of fun, too, because one of my aunts and uncles lives there.

I also want to go to Saint Martin again because my grandparents on my dad’s side have a beach house there, and my dad's side of the family and I have a lot of memories there.

There are so many places I want to visit with my loved ones before they’re gone. I know that I’m hopeless without them, but it’s about the experience you have and the connections you make along the way.

Part of the reason I wanted to become a journalist was to travel, after all, and I’ve got a good head start in terms of the locations I’ve been to.

Even so, there are many locations I want to go to for the first time, see again, or visit because the place has sentimental value.

I’m excited to see what’s to come in terms of my traveling destinations, and I hope I will actually be able to go to them all.
