The Blue Colt bookstore offers a variety of healthy snacks such as nuts, soy chips, vegan cookies and granola bars said Mary Tutalo; assistant director of retail.
Tutalo said that the bookstore selects the merchandise based on what is most in demand.
The shelves are also stacked with cookies, candy and potato chip assortments for customer's looking for their favorite snack.
Coke products, Powerade drinks, Vitamin water, and spring water are also in demand and available.
Tutalo said the frozen food choices like Lean Cuisine Entrees, macaroni cheese dinners, and Hot Pockets are customers' favorites.
Tutalo said the bookstore is careful to make sure that food is safe.
On a weekly basis food items are checked for expiration.
Resnick, a local distributor, keeps shelves stacked at the bookstore. The national distributor NACS Corporation, makes the decisions on which types of food and snacks should be in stock at the bookstore. The bookstore does not sell fresh fruits, but Tutalo said those items are available in the cafeteria, which is just one building away in the College Center.
