The semester is over, but don't slouch too much. Here are a few albums coming out in the next few months that you should consider checking out. 1. Iron and Wine - "Around the Well" If mellow-ish folk rock is your thing, definitely check out the newest release from Iron and Wine. "Around the Well" is a collection of B-sides and rarities, but hey, "The Sheperd's Dog" came out came out only a year-and-a-half ago and new content is new content. 2. Phoenix - "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" It's good to see the Frenchman known as Phoenix get some attention lately, but like anyone who loves their music, I hope I don't lose them to the masses too quickly. "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" looks to serve up more of a groovy pop and rock sound that fans like so much. Did you know that guitarist Laurent Brancowitz was once in a band with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo? Oh wait, you might know them better as Daft Punk. 3. Grizzly Bear - "Veckatimest" This is similar to Iron and Wine except a bit more spacey, but it's nice to just kind of lie out and, like, wonder how a star would taste…or something. Listen to this with an open mind if you're never listened to any previous material from this Brooklyn quartet. 4. Placebo - "Battle for The Sun" This band could be described as a more melodic, less apocalyptic version of Muse. I actually prefer these English rockers to the latter. Expect some more melancholy electro-rock on "Battle for the Sun," their first album since 2006's "Meds."
